Brazilian Scar & Stretch Mark Camouflage

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Brazilian Scar & Stretchmark Camouflage?

Brazilian Scar & Stretch Mark Camouflage is an incredible form of Medical Tattoo that has taken the Beauty, Medical & Health Industries by storm! This treatment was crafted by a Brazilian Permenant Makeup Artist Rodolpho Torres in 2016 - Since then it has made its way accross the globe. It has finally reached the UK, and our highly trained and experienced Practioner at MediGlo is one of the few in the country who currently provide this service. We are proud to be able to offer clients the option to camouflage their scars and stretch marks, leaving them free to enjoy life with a renewed confidence. We have seen first hand the diference our treatments can make to peoples lives.

This camouflage method uses a mix of skin tone inks and dilution. Your practitioner will blend a mix of tattoo inks to match your skin colour, when healed, they will almost perfectly blend in - in many cases, after the healing process the treated area is almost completley undetecable!

This treatment is performed using Permenant tattoo ink, however we dillute this with specialist dillution, to reflect the skins natural transulency. This procedure may need a top up witin 3 - 8 years.

How many treatments will I need?

Scar & Stretchmark Camouflage treatments produce fantastic, almost seamless results - however, it normally takes a minimum of two sessions to get the required result. It could take more sessions depending on the texture, size and overall condition of the area to be treated. In some cases, it is advisable to work on breaking down the texture of your scar with our MCA Inkless Method first, as the Camouflage method works best on untextuirsed skin. Tattoo ink can correct depigmentation (white patches) but it does very little in the way of smoothing out and breaking down texute.  Our MCA Inkless Method is perfect for this.

Does the treatment hurt?

In our experience, everyones pain threshold is different. Most clients tell us they would give the pain a 3 /4 out of 10 . You will feel a sharp scratching sensation throughout the treatment and it is sensible to go into your treatment journey expecting a small amount of discomfort during some of your appointment.

There are a few factors to consider. This is a medical tattoo, different to a cosmetic tattoo - however the sensation is the same, if not extremley similar. If you have previously had a tattoo, you will know what to expect.  Certain areas of the body are more sensitive than other aeas.

We recommend taking pain killers before your appointment, if you are having more than 6 areas done at once and are particularly sensitive, it is smart to consider breaking this down into 2 appointments. This treatment is a largely non invasive procedure, so it is very managable. Please ensure you are well fed and hydrated before your appointment as this will assist your body with pain managment.

For those who find they have sensitive skin, you can purchase a numbing agent from your local Boots - such as Emla.

What type of scars can be treated?

The Brazilian Camouflage method is a great option for a range of different Scars, Skin Conditions and Stretch Marks. We treat:

  • Vitiligo (In remission)
  • Medical Scars
  • Self Injury Scars
  • Burns
  • Tummy Tuck & Breast Reduction Scars
  • Skin Grafts
  • Stretch Marks
  • Hyperpigmentation

Scars & Stretch Marks must be atleast 1.5/2 years old before being treated - this is because it is not safe to tattoo skin that is still healing, it can cause an excess amount of melanin to come to the surface resulting in the scar darkening. It is also at a higher risk of complications and infection. Your Stretch Marks must not still be red/purple/dark brown. For Scars & Stretchmarks that have gone past 1.5/2 years and have still not turned white/lighter - we can discuss a treatment plan for this at Consultation as we may have other options for you to consider such as an initial Skin Test Appointment or MCA Inkless Needling with a specialist whitening serum.

I wanted the Brazilian Camouflage Method,

But I have been advised to have MCA Inkless first. Why is this?

If your Practitioner has advised that you have a few rounds of Inkless Treatment first then this is for good reason.

We understand that you want your Scars or Stretchmarks covered as soon as possible, however if your skin is textured, puckered or wrinkled from scarring or stretching - then the ink will not sit in the skin as intended and can make the area we are treating more noticeable. The area needs to be as flat and as smooth as possible to be worked on with Ink.  However, In many cases, our clients have found that The Inkless Method encouraged enough melanin to the surface of their skin AND flattened the area - removing the need for Camouflage! Remember, melanin is what provides our skin with colour, so although The Inkless Method has been recommended to smooth out your texture, it will also provide you with colour. For all instances where the skin is refusing to produce the amount of melanin we want even after we have achieved a smooth surface, we can introduce The Brazilian Camouflage into your treatment plan.

We ask that you trust our professional advice and most importantly, trust the process!
